The Core 200S-P is Levoit's cheapest smart purifier here, at about $70. It's built for one small room. Levoit says it refreshes the air in a 140 sq ft room 4.8 times an hour. It has about 128,000 reviews at 4.6 stars.

You'll see different CADR figures for this model depending on where you look, and they don't agree. So we're not quoting one. The 140 sq ft room rating is the number to go by.

Who it's for

Small bedrooms, nurseries, dorm rooms and home offices, where you want app and voice control without paying for a sensor. The VeSync app handles fan speed and schedules, and it works with Alexa and Google. You can set it to run overnight and stop in the morning without getting out of bed.

Who should skip it

Anyone who wants the purifier to react to the air. There's no particle sensor and no auto mode. The app can change the speed, but it can't tell you how clean the air is, because the unit has no way of knowing.

Filter

Core 200S-P vs Core 300-P

This is the comparison that matters at this price. The Core 300-P costs about $81, around $11 more. It gives you a much bigger rated room (4.8 air changes an hour in 222 sq ft, compared with 140 sq ft here), an AHAM Verifide CADR you can check, and a quieter sleep mode. What it doesn't have is an app or voice control.

So the question is simple. If app control matters to you, get the 200S-P. If it doesn't, the 300-P cleans a bigger room for a little more money.
