Breathe Right Extra Strength nasal strips - a firmer lift when the Original isn't enough
Breathe Right Extra Strength is the step up from the Original strip. The tan 44-count box costs about $17 on Amazon and averages 4.3 stars from roughly 24,000 ratings, which makes it one of the most-reviewed snoring products on the site. It also works out a little cheaper per strip than the 30-count Original, at under 40 cents a night.
What's different
Breathe Right says the spring-like bands are 50% stronger than in the Original strips, so they lift the sides of your nose harder. Like the Original, the brand says the strips improve nasal airflow by up to 31%. They're drug-free and come as one size.
The stronger bands need stronger adhesive. That's good for staying on through the night and less good at 7 a.m., when you're peeling one off. Reviewers with sensitive skin mention red marks on the nose that fade within the hour. Wet the strip with warm water and take it off slowly.
Who it's for
- People who tried the Original and noticed some improvement, but not enough
- Snoring that gets worse with colds and allergies, or a nose that feels narrow
- Anyone who wants the bigger box for the lower cost per night
Who should skip it
Anyone with sensitive or easily irritated skin on the nose. An internal dilator avoids the adhesive entirely. Skip it too if your snoring comes from your throat or an open mouth. Stronger strips won't fix either, and our nasal strips vs chin straps vs mouth tape guide explains how to tell the difference.
If you stop breathing or gasp during sleep, or you're very tired during the day, see a doctor about a sleep study before buying more strips. Those can be signs of sleep apnea.
Alternatives
Start with the cheaper Breathe Right Original if you've never used strips. For a stronger reusable system, the Intake Breathing magnetic starter kit costs more up front. Our best nasal strips for snoring guide compares all of them, and the best anti-snoring devices roundup covers the other device types.
