Chalkola 6 white chalk markers with 50 labels - liquid chalk pens

Of the white-only Chalkola sets we cover, this one has the most reviews: 3,542 ratings averaging 4.6 stars. It costs about $15, and the thing that sets it apart from the near-identical white packs is the 50 labels that come in the box with the six markers.

The tip size is confusing

The listing title says 6mm tip. The first bullet point lists 1mm, 3mm, 6mm, 10mm, 15mm and 30mm as an "all in one set", jumbo tips included. Six markers can't cover all of that, so look at the photos and the selected variant before you check out.

If you'd rather know exactly what you're getting, Chalkola sells white 6-packs with the sizes spelled out for about the same money: an all-1mm pack and a 1mm, 3mm and 6mm mix.

Where liquid chalk works (and where it doesn't)

Liquid chalk is a water-based ink, not chalk. Chalkola says it erases wet or dry from non-porous surfaces like glass and mirrors, and becomes permanent on porous ones such as wood.

Chalkboards fall on both sides of that line. Porcelain and sealed boards wipe clean. Plenty of painted boards are porous, and liquid chalk can leave a ghost of your old menu or stain the surface for good. Write a few letters in a corner, let them dry, then wipe. If they don't come off cleanly, keep that board for stick chalk.

Two boards on this site to pair with it:

Our chalkboard guide covers more boards and which ones are rated for liquid chalk.

Who it's for

Chalkola aims these at teachers, restaurant owners, artists and parents. The listing mentions calendars, wedding signs, storefront windows, milestone boards, classroom displays, LED boards, vinyl and car windows. White on a dark surface is the classic café menu look, and Chalkola calls the ink highly opaque and quick-drying.

The other selling point is no dust. Chalkola says the markers are non-toxic, dustless and wash off hands with a damp cloth, which matters more in a kitchen or classroom than in a garage.

Should you get this pack?

Get it if you'll actually use the labels. If you only want markers, the packs linked above list their tip sizes plainly, and that's worth more than 50 labels you'll leave in a drawer.
