Polamg Cat Scratch Furniture Protector, 12-Pack Clear Sofa Guards

The Polamg 12-pack is a set of pre-cut clear vinyl sheets for protecting the spots your cat scratches. It costs about $15 and averages 4.4 stars from about 3,600 ratings.

What you get

Twelve clear furniture protector sheets. Each one has a pre-cut gap at one end so it peels off the backing board easily. Polamg says the vinyl is non-toxic and odorless, the glue is stronger than competitors' and leaves no residue when you take it off, and that the sheets are thick enough to resist a kitten. It recommends checking them regularly and replacing them when needed.

Pre-cut sheets suit a cat that targets a handful of places: the two front arm corners, the sides of an armchair, a door frame. Swapping out one scratched-up sheet is easier than redoing a long strip of film.

Fabric and prep

Polamg doesn't recommend the sheets for velvet couches or leather furniture. For better adhesion, clean the area before applying. In practice that means a lint roller first, since cat hair under adhesive is the most common reason protectors fall off.

Who it's for

• Fabric couches and chairs with damage in specific spots
• Renters who'd rather use small, removable pieces than long strips
• Multi-room setups: a sheet on the couch, one on a chair, one on a door frame

Who should skip it

Leather and velvet owners. If the cat is hitting whole panels, a wide roll covers more for the money. And if your cat tears through thin protectors, go for thicker shields.

Alternatives

The Stelucca Amazing Shields are 1.2mm thick with twist pins. The TOOSOFt clear roll covers whole panels. See how pads, film and sisal compare in our cat couch protector guide and whole-couch protection guide.
