Chezerra A-frame chalkboard sign 40 x 20 - double-sided sidewalk board
The Chezerra A-frame chalkboard sign is the sidewalk pick in our best chalkboards guide. It costs about $60 and has 4.3 stars from roughly 450 Amazon reviews.
What you get
A double-sided sandwich board that stands 40 inches tall and 20 inches wide. The frame is solid paulownia wood, a light wood, so it's easy to carry out in the morning and back in at closing. Each side has a 29.4 x 17.3 inch writing area. That's the number to plan your menu around, not the 40 x 20 outer size.
The box includes eight liquid chalk markers, two cleaning cloths and a sandbag to weigh the base down on windy days. Heavy-duty hinges and a metal chain hold the A-shape open, and it folds flat for storage.
The surface
Both faces are magnetic, so you can add a printed menu, a QR code card or a photo beside the handwriting. Chezerra says the matte surface is anti-ghosting and takes either chalk or liquid markers. Peel off the clear protective film before first use. The listing makes a point of it, and it's an easy step to miss.
For sidewalk use, liquid chalk markers usually read better from a distance than stick chalk. The chalkboard buying guide covers when to use each.
Weather
This is a wooden board, and the listing is clear: don't use it on rainy days. If it does get wet, wipe it dry and let it air out somewhere ventilated so the wood doesn't mold. Bring it inside overnight. It's meant to stand outdoors during the day, not to live there.
Who it's for
- Cafes, coffee shops, food trucks and salons advertising daily specials
- Wedding and party signs (welcome boards, seating directions, bar menus)
- Shops that want a sign they can fold away each night
Who should skip it
Anyone who needs a sign that stays out in all weather. Also skip it if you want a board on a wall rather than a freestanding sign.
