Chuangseed Anti Cat Scratch Tape, 4" x 30Yds, Transparent, Double Sided, Furniture Protector, Pet Safe, Easy Installation, One Year Warranty

Chuangseed's anti cat scratch tape is a long, narrow roll of clear double-sided tape. It costs about $15 and averages 4.2 stars from about 1,500 ratings.

What you get

A roll that's 4 inches wide and 30 yards long. That's 90 feet, which is more than most homes will use on cat-proofing. Both sides are sticky: one holds the tape to the furniture, the other is what the cat touches. Cats dislike the tacky feel and learn to avoid taped spots. You peel off a white backing paper to apply it.

Chuangseed says the tape is cat safe and clear. It also recommends testing a short strip on a small corner first, because the adhesive can react differently to different surfaces. Do that, especially on painted wood and delicate fabric.

Where it works

Four inches is narrow, so this tape is for edges and lines rather than big flat panels:

• Couch piping and the top edge of rolled arms
• Chair and table legs
• Door frames and baseboards
• The strip along the edge of a clear shield, where a cat tries to get underneath

You can also use it as general double-sided mounting tape around the house.

Who should skip it

Anyone needing to cover a full couch panel. Laying 4-inch strips side by side across a cushion front is slow and leaves seams. A wide roll or pre-cut sheets do that better. Skip it on leather, as with all adhesive cat tape. Like any double-sided tape, it collects hair and dust and loses its tack over time.

Alternatives

For big panels, the TOOSOFt clear roll is 16.5 inches wide. For targeted corners, the Panther Armor double-sided sheets are pre-cut. The cat scratch tape guide compares every type, and the couch arm guide shows where narrow tape fits in.
