The Airmega 100 is Coway's small-room purifier, at about $117. Its CADR is 108 CFM for smoke, 124 for dust and 112 for pollen. Coway says it cleans the air in up to 405 sq ft once in 30 minutes, or 810 sq ft in an hour. It has about 830 reviews at 4.4 stars, a much smaller pool than the big Levoit listings.

No app, and that's the point

There's no Wi-Fi, no app and no voice control. What it does have is an AQI light and an auto mode that sets the fan speed on its own. There are also three manual speeds, a timer, a filter indicator and a night light. You plug it in, press auto, and leave it.

If you like that, this is one of the simplest units on the site. If you want scheduling from your phone, look at the Levoit Core 300S-P instead. It has the same auto-mode idea plus the VeSync app, and a higher CADR (141 smoke), for about $150.

Sleep mode

Noise runs from 20 dB to 48 dB. Sleep mode switches the lights off and drops the fan to its lowest speed. That 20 dB floor is the lowest of any purifier we cover, a little under the Levoit Core 300S-P's 22 dB. For a bedroom or nursery, that's the main reason to pick it. Filtration

It has three layers: a pre-filter, a deodorization filter and a HEPA filter. Coway doesn't list an ionizer stage on this model, unlike the bigger Airmega AP-1512HH. Our HEPA filter air purifier article explains how the layers split the work.

Who should skip it

Anyone buying for a living room. A 108 CFM smoke CADR is a bedroom or office number. The Coway AP-1512HH Mighty roughly doubles it (233 smoke) and is often on sale not far above this price.

Budget buyers should also compare it with the Levoit Core 300-P. At about $81, the Core 300-P is cheaper and has a higher AHAM Verifide CADR (143 smoke). It has no sensor or auto mode, though, and its sleep mode is a little louder at 24 dB.
