The best velvet cuddle chair on Amazon UK is the Stunning Chairs Velvet Swivel Cuddle Chair, about £200 when we checked. It comes from a UK company, swivels a full 360 degrees and has a removable seat cushion, which matters more on velvet than on any other fabric. For a small room, the TILLY Patchwork Swivel Cuddle Chair from the same brand is about £120 and 60cm wide.
Velvet makes a budget chair look expensive. A sage green or purple velvet chair reads like a boutique buy even when it came from Amazon. It also records everything: fingerprints, water marks, pet hair, and the ring from the mug someone put straight on the arm.
This page covers the velvet options and what to know before you commit to the fabric. For cord, chenille and kids' chairs, see the best cuddle chairs guide. The swivel cuddle chair guide compares swivel bases.

View Price History & Details1. Stunning Chairs Velvet Swivel Cuddle Chair: Best Overall Velvet
Best for: a statement chair that looks far more expensive than it is Avoid if: you have pets that shed or small children with sticky hands
Stunning Chairs is a UK company based in Cleethorpes, and this is its best-known velvet cuddle chair on Amazon. At about £200 it's not cheap, but you're buying from a UK brand you can contact, rather than an anonymous marketplace seller.
The shape is the draw. The curved backrest and stacked round base make it look sculpted rather than mass-produced, especially in purple or sage green. The base hides a metal swivel that turns a full 360 degrees. Matching cushions are included, and the padded seat cushion comes off. On velvet, being able to lift the cushion out and clean it separately is what keeps the chair looking good.
Assembly is tool-free: the backrest slots into the base by hand. The listing doesn't give the chair's width, but it ships in a 45 x 88 x 93cm box, so check that against your stairs and doorways.
Velvet's downsides apply in full. The arms show fingerprints from day one, water can leave a tideline, and the seat pile flattens with use. In a house with pets or young children, the cord INMOZATA (pick 3) will age better.
Pros:
- Looks far more expensive than it is
- UK brand you can contact
- Tool-free assembly
- Removable seat cushion
- Several colours, including purple and sage green
Cons:
- Velvet shows fingerprints, water marks and pet hair
- Seat pile flattens over time
- No footstool, while the INMOZATA set includes one for less
Amazon price history: tracked since May 2025. Lowest £115.79 (January 2026), highest £119.99, now £119.99.
View Price History & Details2. TILLY Patchwork Swivel Cuddle Chair: Best Compact Velvet
Best for: bedrooms, dressing rooms and small corners Avoid if: you want to curl up sideways
The TILLY is the smaller Stunning Chairs chair, and it's a tub chair rather than a true cuddle chair: 60cm wide, 62cm deep and 69cm high. You sit upright in it. What you get is a velvet swivel chair for about £120 that fits where a full cuddle chair won't.
This version is a multicoloured patchwork velvet, which is the point of buying it; it's a statement piece. It's also sold in plain colours. The base swivels a full 360 degrees, the foam-padded seat cushion is removable, and the backrest slots in by hand. It weighs 15kg and ships in a 45 x 65 x 65cm box, so it goes up any staircase.
It has 4.9 stars, but from only 15 reviews. More detail on fitting one in a bedroom is in our cuddle chairs for bedrooms guide.
Pros:
- Fits small rooms and tight staircases
- Cheapest velvet swivel here
- Removable seat cushion, tool-free assembly
- Patchwork you won't see in every other living room
Cons:
- 60cm wide: not a curl-up chair
- Velvet marks easily
- Few reviews so far
Amazon price history: tracked since December 2025. Lowest £169.99 (September 2026), highest £199.99, now at that low.
View Price History & Details3. INMOZATA Swivel Cuddle Chair with Footstool: Best Non-Velvet Alternative
Best for: buyers who like the plush look but not the upkeep Avoid if: you've set your heart on velvet
The INMOZATA isn't velvet. It's here as the reality check. For about £170 you get an 85cm-wide jumbo cord swivel chair, a matching 68 x 33cm footstool, three cushions and a cup holder, rated to 150kg.
Jumbo cord, the thick-ribbed corduroy on DFS and Sofology sofas, has some of velvet's warmth without the tidelines. Spills blot out, the pile doesn't flatten the same way, and minor marks disappear into the ridges. Pet hair does cling to it, so brush it often.
The catch is that it has just 6 Amazon UK reviews, averaging 3.7 stars, and INMOZATA has only been around since 2022. The cuddle chair with footstool guide covers it in more detail.
Pros:
- Cord is harder-wearing and lower-maintenance than velvet
- Footstool, cushions and cup holder included
- 85cm wide, room to curl up
- 150kg rating
Cons:
- Not velvet
- Only 6 Amazon reviews (3.7 stars)
- Cord collects pet hair
Is velvet right for your cuddle chair?
The case for velvet
Velvet photographs well and looks expensive for the money. If the chair will be the first thing you see from the doorway, it earns its place. The sheen also helps in darker rooms: a sage green velvet chair lifts a north-facing bedroom in a way a flat fabric doesn't.
The case against
Velvet records contact. Fingerprints appear on the arms straight away, water needs dealing with at once, pet hair works into the pile, and the seat flattens where you sit. With children under ten, a pet that sheds, or anyone who eats in the chair, it's the wrong fabric.
Looking after velvet
- Regularly: brush lightly with a soft brush, in the direction of the pile.
- Spills: blot at once with a dry cloth. Don't rub, and don't pour water on it. For fixed marks, use a barely damp cloth with a little upholstery shampoo, tested on a hidden area first.
- Flattened pile: hold a clothes steamer a few inches away and move it in the direction of the pile. Don't let it touch the fabric.
The removable seat cushion is the most useful maintenance feature a velvet chair can have, and both Stunning Chairs models have one.
Choosing a colour
Sage green and purple are the safe picks: rich without taking over a room. Patchwork works best as the one bold piece in an otherwise plain room. Pure white is impractical anywhere, and very dark navy or black shows dust and lint as much as light colours show marks. Velvet changes with the light, so keep the packaging until you've seen the colour in your own room.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does a velvet cuddle chair wear well?
It wears well with care, but it needs more upkeep than cord or a woven fabric. Water left to dry on velvet can leave a permanent tideline, and the pile flattens on the seat and inside arms with regular use. For a chair several people use every day, jumbo cord or chenille ages better. Velvet suits a room with moderate use, decent light and no pets that shed.
What colours do velvet cuddle chairs come in on Amazon UK?
The Stunning Chairs velvet cuddle chair is sold in several colours including purple and sage green, and the TILLY comes in a multicoloured patchwork as well as plain shades. Colours sell out at different times, so check the listing for what's in stock. Velvet's sheen shifts with the light, so keep the packaging until you're sure the shade works in your room.
How do you clean a velvet cuddle chair?
Brush it or use a lint roller regularly so dust and hair don't work into the pile. For spills, blot straight away with a clean, dry cloth and don't rub. For marks, use a barely damp cloth with a little upholstery shampoo, testing on a hidden area first. Both Stunning Chairs models have a removable seat cushion, which you can clean separately. Don't machine-wash velvet unless the care label says you can.
The verdict
For a velvet cuddle chair, buy the Stunning Chairs Velvet Swivel Cuddle Chair: a UK brand, a full swivel and a removable seat cushion. If the room is small, the TILLY Patchwork Swivel gives you velvet and a swivel in 60cm, at the cost of curling-up room. And if this page has put you off velvet, the INMOZATA cord set is the practical alternative, footstool included.
