Best Cuddle Chairs for Bedrooms UK 2026: Compact Chairs That Fit

Best Cuddle Chairs for Bedrooms UK 2026: Compact Chairs That Fit

For most UK bedrooms, the best cuddle chair is the TILLY Patchwork Swivel Cuddle Chair by Stunning Chairs, about £120 when we checked. It's 60cm wide and 62cm deep, so it fits a corner where an 85cm cuddle chair would crowd the room. In a bigger bedroom, the full-size Stunning Chairs Velvet Swivel Cuddle Chair (about £200) gives you room to curl up. On a budget, the Marketero Bucket Chair with Ottoman (about £130) adds a footstool.

A bedroom is a harder place for a cuddle chair than a living room. It has to fit around a bed and wardrobes, look right next to the bed, and usually do a second job: reading chair, morning coffee spot, or somewhere to drop tomorrow's clothes.

The common mistake is ordering a full-size cuddle chair for a room that needs a tub chair. They look alike in product photos. In the room, the difference between 60cm and 85cm is the difference between a chair that tucks into a corner and one that makes the whole room feel smaller.

For the wider range, including chairs better suited to living rooms, see our best cuddle chairs guide. Whether a swivel is worth having is covered in the swivel cuddle chair guide.

1. TILLY Patchwork Swivel Cuddle Chair: Best for Bedroom

Best for: bedrooms, dressing rooms and any corner where a full cuddle chair would take over Avoid if: you want to curl up sideways; this is a tub chair

The TILLY is sold as a cuddle chair, but it's really a compact swivel tub chair, and in a bedroom that's the point. It measures 60cm wide, 62cm deep and 69cm high, well under half the floor space of the INMOZATA cuddle chair with its footstool out. In a standard double bedroom with a bed and wardrobe, it fits most corners.

It arrives in a single 45 x 65 x 65cm box, which goes up any staircase, and the backrest slots into the base by hand with no tools. The seat cushion is foam-padded and comes off for cleaning. The base turns a full 360 degrees, which is useful in a bedroom: face the window to read, then turn to the dressing table.

The patchwork velvet is what you're paying for. It's multicoloured and loud, so it works best against plain walls and bedding; in a room that's already busy, it'll fight everything else. If you'd rather something quieter, Stunning Chairs sells the TILLY shape in plain colours too.

It has 4.9 stars on Amazon UK, but from only 15 reviews, and Stunning Chairs is a UK company in Cleethorpes with its own website. At about £120 it's the cheapest swivel chair in our cuddle chair guides.

You can't tuck your legs up in it. Your legs go forward, not sideways. For reading upright, a coffee or sitting at a dressing table, that's fine.

Pros:

  • 60 x 62cm: fits bedroom corners
  • 360-degree swivel
  • Tool-free slot-in assembly; ships in a 45 x 65 x 65cm box
  • Removable seat cushion

Cons:

  • Too narrow to curl up in
  • Patchwork is a strong look that won't suit every room
  • Velvet shows marks
  • Only 15 reviews so far

2. Stunning Chairs Velvet Swivel Cuddle Chair: Best If Your Bedroom Has Space

Best for: larger bedrooms (about 4m x 4m and up) with room for a full-size cuddle chair Avoid if: your bedroom is a standard UK double

In a big main bedroom or a loft conversion, the full-size Stunning Chairs velvet cuddle chair (about £200) is the more comfortable choice. It's wide enough to sit cross-legged or curl up under a blanket, which the TILLY isn't.

It's from the same UK brand with the same tool-free slot-in assembly, a removable seat cushion and a hidden 360-degree swivel base, and comes in purple, sage green and other velvet colours. Stunning Chairs doesn't list the width, so measure the space against the 45 x 88 x 93cm box size and the product photos before ordering, and leave about 120cm from the back of the chair to the nearest wall or furniture.

Velvet in a bedroom is easier to live with than in a living room: less food, fewer pets, gentler use. The velvet cuddle chair guide covers care in more detail.

Pros:

  • Room to curl up
  • Removable seat cushion
  • Swivel for a multi-use bedroom
  • UK brand with its own customer service

Cons:

  • Too big for most standard doubles
  • No footstool
  • 88 x 87cm: needs a big corner

3. Marketero Bucket Arm Chair with Ottoman: Best Budget Bedroom Set

Best for: small bedrooms where you want somewhere to put your feet up Avoid if: you want a swivel or room to curl up

The Marketero is about £130 with a matching ottoman, and the listing pitches it at bedrooms and small spaces, which is fair. The chair is 67cm wide, 63.5cm deep and 73cm high, a mid-century bucket shape on solid wood legs that twist on by hand. It has 4.4 stars from 122 reviews.

The seat is high-density foam over a wooden frame, upholstered in a textured linen fabric that Marketero says resists pet hair and cleans easily. In grey it sits quietly in a bedroom rather than drawing attention.

Like the TILLY, it's a tub chair under the cuddle chair label: you sit back in it, feet on the ottoman. It doesn't swivel, and no weight limit is listed. Our cuddle chair with footstool guide puts it against three other sets.

Pros:

  • Chair and ottoman for about £130
  • 67 x 63.5cm footprint
  • Tool-free twist-on legs
  • Linen fabric is easier to keep clean than velvet

Cons:

  • No swivel
  • 67cm wide: not a curl-up chair
  • No weight rating on the listing
  • The ottoman adds floor space when in use

How to choose a cuddle chair for your bedroom

Measure first

Before buying, tape out the chair's width and depth on the bedroom floor with masking tape. Stand in the doorway and look. Does the room still feel like a bedroom? Is there at least 60cm between the chair and the nearest furniture?

It takes five minutes and saves a return. Size mistakes are common: in a survey of 1,500 shoppers commissioned by AR firm Fixtuur, 60% said they had bought furniture online that turned out to be the wrong size.

Typical UK bedrooms:

  • Standard double (about 3m x 3.5m): a 60cm tub chair like the TILLY fits a corner. A full-size cuddle chair is possible but tight. A cuddle chair with a footstool, which needs about 85cm x 130cm in use, is too big.
  • Larger double (3.5m x 4m and up): a full-size cuddle chair without a footstool works in a corner.
  • Main suite or extension (4m x 5m and up): a cuddle chair with a footstool fits, but measure anyway.

Where to put it

Corner opposite the bed: out of the way, and it works for most sizes if the corner allows.

Window alcove: a swivel chair facing the window for reading can turn to face the room without being moved.

Dressing area: a compact swivel tub chair like the TILLY can turn between mirror, wardrobe and dressing table.

Foot of the bed: only if there's 80cm or more between the end of the bed and the wall. Most standard UK doubles don't have that.

Colour and fabric

The bed is the room's focal point, so treat the chair as an accent. Match it to the headboard or curtains rather than the bedding.

Velvet is the best fabric for a bedroom chair because it gets gentler use there than anywhere else in the house: no dog, fewer drinks, no crumbs. Linen and woven fabrics are easier still to keep clean. For the swivel side of things, see the swivel cuddle chair guide.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much floor space does a cuddle chair take up in a bedroom?

A full-size cuddle chair, around 85cm wide and deep, needs about 1.2m x 1.2m once you allow room to get in and out. The TILLY tub chair is 60cm wide and 62cm deep, so it needs closer to 90cm x 90cm. A chair with a footstool needs more: the INMOZATA set takes about 85cm x 130cm when the footstool is in use. If the chair would sit within arm's reach of the bed, the room is probably too small for a full-size cuddle chair.

Is a swivel chair a good idea in a bedroom?

Yes, especially in a bedroom with a dressing table or desk. A swivel chair in a corner can face the window for reading, the room for talking, or the dressing table, without being moved. Watch for the base marking wooden or laminate floors; a felt pad or small rug underneath stops it.

What colour cuddle chair works best in a bedroom?

Pick a colour that goes with the headboard or curtains rather than one that matches the bedding exactly. Sage green, duck egg blue and soft gold velvet add colour without competing with the bed. Grey or cream works if you want the chair to blend in. A patterned chair like the TILLY Patchwork is best in a room with plain bedding and walls.

The verdict

For a standard UK bedroom, get the TILLY Patchwork Swivel Cuddle Chair: 60cm wide, swivels, and goes together without tools. If the room is big enough to curl up in a full-size chair, the Stunning Chairs Velvet Swivel Cuddle Chair is about £80 more. And if you want a footstool on a budget, the Marketero Bucket Chair with Ottoman is about £130 for both.
