Chalkola 16 extra fine tip chalk markers (1mm) - neon and metallic
This is the most reviewed Chalkola set we cover, with 7,045 ratings and a 4.4-star average. For about $16 you get 16 liquid chalk markers, all with a 1mm extra fine tip: 10 neon and 6 metallic (gold, silver, red, green, blue and pink).
That's color plus precision, and very little else. No bold tips in the box, so it's not a sign-painting kit.
What 1mm color is for
Detail. Small text on a store sign, doodles in the corner of a menu board, a color-coded family calendar where each person gets a neon. Chalkola pitches it for teaching materials too, where labels and diagrams would turn to mush with a thick tip. It also mentions frequently updated things like calendar boards and bistro signs, where you're erasing and rewriting every few days.
The metallics are the reason some people buy this pack. Chalkola suggests them for wine glasses, mirrors and dark surfaces: think place names on glasses at a wedding or a party, or a gold border on a black board. Metallic ink on a dark background is hard to get from regular chalk at all.
Want thicker lines in color? Look at Chalkola's dual tip set, which pairs a 5mm bullet tip with a 1mm on each marker.
Will it wipe off?
On non-porous surfaces, yes. Chalkola lists glass, mirrors and LED boards as erasable. On porous surfaces, the listing says the ink is permanent, which it frames as a feature for artwork you want to keep.
Chalkboards are the in-between case. Porcelain and sealed boards wipe clean. Many painted chalkboards are porous, and neon or metallic pigment can ghost or stain them. Try a corner first and wipe it after it dries.
The Chalky Crown magnetic fridge board is designed for liquid chalk and a natural home for a color-coded weekly plan. Our chalkboard guide covers bigger wall boards and which ones say they take liquid markers.
Safety
Chalkola describes the formula as non-toxic and dustless, aimed at school projects, home labeling and bistro signs.
